Tugela River Lodge is a self-catering Eco Lodge, located on a private cattle and game farm on the banks of the Tugela River, near Winterton, KZN, South Africa. We use solar power and gas to run our lodge and are completely off the grid.
In the shadow of the famous Anglo-Boer Battlefield of Spionkop, this picturesque and pet friendly accommodation is the ideal place for singles, couples, a family weekend, or a large group get together. We have a total of 27 beds in stand alone cottages which can be booked either as the Main Lodge – a 10 to 14 bed set up, the Hideaway – a 5 sleeper, the Rapids – 4 sleeper, the River House – 4 sleeper and Kingfisher Cottage – 4 sleeper.
The lodge has been in the Green family for over 20 years. They have a passion for mountain biking, trail running and the great outdoors. An annual well-known mountain bike race and trail run take place in the area.
We do not have TV here. We urge people to come here to experience nature and to get out and walk, ride, hike, run, fish, swim, paddle and enjoy time away from their cellphones. In this modern day, it is sometimes difficult to catch a break from the fast paced life of technology, and we offer you a great opportunity to get away from it all!
